The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Qasym-Jomart Toqayev at an expanded government meeting paid special attention to the issue of effectively utilizing the potential of special economic zones. The Head of State emphasized the need to improve their current operational model and instructed that a new development model for special economic zones be approved within three months. The President positively assessed the experience of the Turkestan region and the city of Astana in this regard.

In the Turkestan region systematic work is underway to create a favorable environment for investors, provide ready-made infrastructure and offer comprehensive project support. The region is developing a network of special and industrial zones with production facilities being commissioned in phases. These measures contribute to the development of the processing industry, the opening of new enterprises and increased investment activity.

It is worth noting that the region hosts the “Turan” special economic zone, covering an area of 4,397 hectares. In addition, there are 21 industrial zones with ready infrastructure. In small industrial parks entrepreneurs are offered the opportunity to lease or purchase production facilities on preferential terms. Currently, small industrial parks are being constructed in every district and city of the region.
