INVESTMENT COOPERATION BETWEEN TURKESTAN REGION AND HUBEI PROVINCE REACHES A NEW LEVEL

As part of a working visit to the People’s Republic of China, the governor of Turkestan Region N. Kusherov together with an official delegation held important talks in the city of Wuhan — the capital of Hubei Province, considered a sister region of Turkestan — with the leaders of more than 50 leading Chinese companies.

One of the key events of the visit was an official meeting between the governor of Turkestan Region N. Kusherov, and the Governor of Hubei Province Li Dianxun. The parties discussed taking investment, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation between the two regions to a new level, as well as the prospects for implementing joint projects.

Particular attention was paid to expanding cooperation in the fields of industry, agriculture, tourism, logistics, healthcare, education, science and digitalization. Issues related to industrial cooperation, technology transfer, the opening of new enterprises, and strengthening export ties were also discussed.

Hubei Province is one of China’s leading industrial and scientific centers. The region has a population of more than 60 million people. It holds leading positions in the automotive industry, metallurgy, chemical industry, pharmaceuticals, high technologies, and innovation sectors. Its administrative center in the city of Wuhan is an important economic hub with a well-developed international transport and logistics infrastructure.

The parties especially emphasized the importance of cooperation in transport and logistics. In this context, the international transport corridor “Western Europe – Western China” and the strategic role of the region in Eurasian transit routes were extensively discussed. The tourism potential of Turkestan Region was also presented, including the UNESCO World Heritage Site — the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, the region’s tourism infrastructure and opportunities for developing international tourism routes.

Today, 17 investment projects involving Chinese capital with a total value of 148 billion tenge are being implemented in the Turkestan Region. Deepening partnership with Hubei Province will enable the launch of new production facilities, increase investment volumes, expand export markets, and enhance the competitiveness of the regional economy.

The “Turkistan Invest” agency under the regional government will continue systematic work to develop international cooperation, attract investors, and promote the region’s investment potential on a global scale.
