TURKESTAN REGION AND SINOPEC: NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR INVESTMENT COOPERATION

As part of a working visit to the People’s Republic of China, the Governor of Turkestan Region N. Kosherov met in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, with Wu Zibo, the general director and deputy secretary of the Party Committee of one of the world’s leading engineering and industrial companies, Sinopec Nanjing Engineering, as well as with S. Seitzhanov president of “SAUTS-Oil.”

The main purpose of the negotiations was to discuss the implementation of joint investment projects in the Turkestan Region in the fields of oil and gas chemistry, energy, industrial infrastructure, and high-tech manufacturing.

The parties reviewed opportunities for establishing joint ventures in the region and discussed prospects for developing industrial cooperation.

During the meeting, the regional governor provided a detailed presentation on the investment and industrial potential of the Turkestan Region. The region’s advantageous geographic location, proximity to international transport corridors, incentives in special economic and industrial zones, as well as state support measures for investors were highlighted. In addition, available production sites and infrastructure for hosting new enterprises were presented.

In turn, representatives of Sinopec Nanjing Engineering highly appreciated the industrial and investment potential of the Turkestan Region and expressed interest in implementing joint projects in the region. The company stated its readiness to apply its international experience in oil refining, petrochemicals, energy, environmental technologies, and digital engineering to the development of projects in Kazakhstan.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to begin work on establishing a joint venture between the Turkestan Region akimat, Sinopec Nanjing Engineering, and “SAUTS-Oil,” as well as to carry out detailed elaboration of investment projects.

This initiative will strengthen economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and China, enhance the industrial potential of the Turkestan Region, create new jobs and provide an additional impetus for sustainable socio-economic development of the region.
