TURKESTAN REGION: INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT AND INVESTMENT OPPORTUNITIES

Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan E. Togzhanov paid a working visit to the Turkestan Region where he and Regional Governor N. Kusherov toured existing and ongoing industrial projects across the region.

During the visit systemic reforms and major investment projects being implemented in the region in accordance with the President’s instructions were presented.

The Turkestan Region is among the country’s leading regions in terms of investment attraction. Industrial output is growing and export-oriented projects are being actively developed.

A key strategic project is “JASYL SUYQ QAZAQSTAN” (Investor: UBC BG LLC, Bulgaria):

– Production: commercial refrigeration equipment

– Main markets: Kazakhstan and Central Asian countries

The project is being implemented in two phases:

Phase I: Investments of €5 million with a production capacity of up to 4,000 units per month; approximately 350 jobs are expected to be created. The government has provided a ready-made production facility covering 10,000 sq. m.

Phase II: Construction of a new plant is planned in the “TURAN” Special Economic Zone. Investments will increase to €15 million, production capacity will grow to 10,000 units per month, and up to 1,000 new jobs will be created.

At present equipment is being delivered and personnel are being recruited and trained in the cities of Turkestan and Kentau.

It should be noted that the Turkestan Region is implementing the “Construction of Industrial Parks” project to boost investment activity. As part of the project a large industrial park is being developed on an area of 100 hectares with plans to construct 152 production facilities.

Currently these ready-to-use sites are attracting strong interest from businesses and investors.
