A ceremony marking the installation of the first pile for a 300 MW photovoltaic power plant and energy storage system project was held in the Sauran district. The project is being implemented at the initiative of Sauran Solar Power. This event marked not only the beginning of the construction phase, but also an important step toward regional development, environmental sustainability and energy independence.

The ceremony was attended by the Governor of the Turkestan region N. Kusherov, Deputy General Director of China Energy Overseas Investment Co., Ltd. He Xiongfei, as well as representatives of government bodies and partner organizations.

Governor N. Kusherov emphasized the strategic importance of the project for the region and noted that the regional administration would provide comprehensive support for its implementation. In turn, He Xiongfei stated that the project represents a new stage of energy cooperation between Kazakhstan and China and will be carried out in accordance with international standards.

The total investment volume of the project exceeds 300 million US dollars. The Samruk-Kazyna Fund and Samruk-Energo are also participating in the project, contributing financial and strategic support aimed at developing Kazakhstan’s energy infrastructure and increasing the share of renewable energy sources.

The project is:

• one of the first energy projects implemented under the intergovernmental agreement between China and Kazakhstan;
• the first investment initiative of China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) in Kazakhstan;
• one of the country’s largest projects in the field of photovoltaic power generation and energy storage systems.

During the construction phase, approximately 500 jobs are expected to be created, which will positively impact local employment and regional economic development.

Once commissioned, the facility will generate around 674 million kWh of clean electricity annually. This will help improve the region’s energy balance and support Kazakhstan’s policy of transitioning to renewable energy sources.

The project is an important part of the “One Belt – One Road” initiative and contributes to strengthening economic and energy cooperation between Kazakhstan and China, while also making a significant contribution to the sustainable development of the region and the country’s transition to a green economy.
